Cervical dilatation and uterine curettage is a surgery performed to diagnose and treat abnormal bleeding of the uterus. A device called a speculum is inserted, the cervix is dilated to allow a curette (scoop-shaped instrument) to pass through and tissue from the lining of the uterus is removed.
